Celeste Tippen should be having her dream summer. Thanks to fate, her best friend Devon's summer plans of spending two months at a prestigious acting school in Scotland have fallen through and Celeste's boyfriend Travis going to be working at Pinyon Ranch too--thanks to a little incident involving a stolen golf cart from the resort. Instead her summer's turning into a nightmare as she finds herself playing referee between Travis and Nick, her summer flirtation for the last few summers. If that wasn't bad enough, Celeste finds herself having to spend more time with Nick than she ever planned.

FLIRTING WITH BOYS is a fun summer read. Ms. Abbot does a great job painting the scenes and it feels like you're there right along with Celeste at the resort. Celeste, for the most part is a very likable character, and I really liked watching her struggle with Nick, her summer boyfriend from years past.

One of the things that sort of took away from the book was Celeste's boyfriend, Travis. Sure, he's the so-called `bad boy' and is supposed to do things that good boyfriends don't do, but there were a few times when I found him extremely annoying and wondered why Celeste wouldn't just tell him off or get rid of him completely. Even at the big climax of the story, when everything is falling apart, you really want Celeste to wake up to the fact of the kind of guy Travis really is and the truth about Nick. I have to say most of my favorite scenes are between Celeste and Nick, especially when she's forced into helping him plan his own party. I really enjoyed the part where the two go to check out a band in Los Angeles. All in all, FLIRTING WITH BOYS is a great summer read.

Ms. Abbot grew up in Southern California, where she split her time between creative writing and creative beaching. She is the author of Getting Lost with Boys, The Secrets of Boys, The Perfect Boy, Waking Up to Boys, The Forbidden Boy, and The Other Boy well as the Summer Boys books and The Bridesmaid. Hailey now lives in New York City.

A quick and fun summer read is exactly what you get with Flirting With Boys!

Celeste is stuck working at her family's resort every summer, much to her dismay. She would much rather attend a writing workshop or do something fun instead of working. Due to her boyfriend's Senior prank gone wrong, he will be joining her at the resort to work off a debt to her family too. She is pretty happy about this change in plans until she remembers last summer's hookup with a custmer's son, Nick, who will also be there all summer. Now she must try to keep the boys apart and dodge the seemingly unwanted flirtation attempts from Nick, which becomes quite difficult when they are thrown together to plan a summer movie screening party at the resort.

Right away this plot reminded me a little bit of High School Musical 2. Yes, I admit I have seen it. LOL But the resort atmosphere was fun and light. Some of the most enjoyable moments were with Celeste's friendship with her best friend, Devon. The littliest details would remind me of my own friend's from high school and brought back some fun memories. The boyfriend, Travis, was kind of a moron, but I did love sweet Nick! The plot moves really fast so we don't get a whole lot of time to connect with the characters. And some of the plot also seemed far-fetched or a little too convenient to me, but I was able to overlook those issues and enjoy the story all together.

If you like fast-paced and fun contemporary reads, then I would recommend Flirting With Boys as a great summer read. You could easily pack this book and take it to the beach or pool and finish it in a couple of hours.

I purchased this book in paperback from bookoutlet a few years ago and I finally got around to reading it. Now that I am reading it a 26, I understand it at face value. I think books like this are needed for that in between stage of girl to woman. Where you like to read and you have yet to find out the real possibilities of what the book world has to offer. That being said, I thought it would be a cute read, but all in all it was just a DNF waiting to happen. Celeste was rich but not really. She had goals but not really. She never really fully came to be a strong young woman. She was the densest character I have yet to read ( including the Maxon & America child). The story leaves so many things unanswered and digs up more questions. Like if Nick truly liked Celeste why did he put her in the hook up category. It has been a long time since I read these stories but I don't know if they continue with the same characters. I gave the book 2/5 stars. This is good for any teeny boppers you know who like to read.
I had ordered this book as a gift for a friend and when I received it in the mail. The book cover was messed up and it had a marker line on the top, this would be normal if I brought the book used but I didnt, so I couldnt understand why the book looked like it had been used by a few people.
