I’m not supposed to be here.
Death has come for me more than once, and each time it’s been a boy who’s stood between me and my final breath.
I called him Christopher when he saved me as a child. When he came into my life again, only months ago, I knew him as Wes. Just as he did the time before, he disappeared the moment he made sure I was out of harm’s way; as if I didn’t need any more saving.
This time, though, death left me with a reminder of how powerful it is. I know it meant to strip me of my spirit again, but it failed.
Even so, I know I need Wes to survive. Our souls are woven together somehow, our every breath in sync. I feel it, even though everyone says I shouldn’t.
The world thinks he’s missing.
His loved ones don’t want to believe he’s dead.
Only I know just how special he is.
I’m going to find him and bring him home, where he belongs. Together, we’ll face impossible—we’ll rewrite our ending.
And when the bad guys come calling, we will always win.

A Girl Like Me (Like Us Book 2) eBook Ginger Scott Reviews
This second book of the duo was surprise you good. I wasn’t sure how the author could continue the momentum and even make this book better than the first but she did. It was Mindblowingly good, it was better than the first i think but yet couldn’t really compare because it had so many aspects to it. While some of it was unrealistic, so many things happening to one couple...but yet again, that’s why it’s called fiction right? It kept me glued to it. I had to stop myself from reading it at times to sleep. Then I put off rereading because it was so intense but yet I didn’t want it to end. Some questions were answered from the first, but I don’t think completely. I think somethings were left incomplete, unresolved, because that’s how life is. Life doesn’t always get wrapped up with a pretty bow and have complete resolutions of all aspects by the end of the book. Life is complicated and messy. One thing I really liked about the book and there are so many, is the main two characters. Both are flawed, just like real people. Joss shows that she can accomplish whatever she sets her mind to despite all the obstacles that keep get thrown before her. You keep thinking the latest tragedy she encounters will break her and she will shatter to tiny pieces, but she doesn’t. I like that this book shows that flawed people(such as Joss and her Dad) can change if they really put their mind to it. I also enjoyed thoroughly the sweet love story these books tell that is Joss and Wes. This author, Ginger Scott is highly talented and I recommend her books highly. I look forward to more of her books. I also hope that, despite this book being a duo set, that she makes it a series with stories for Kyle, TK, and Levi. Kyle is another character that is awesome in my mind. Despite losing the girl he loves, Joss, to Wes, he stays her best friend. That shows true love and sacrifice. A fine example for people to follow. I’d like to see a book in which Kyle gets his happily ever after.
*-*SPOILERS*-*
I give this book 3.5 stars. I for sure thought A Boy Like Me was much better than this conclusion ( I felt like the story was incomplete despite this being the last book in this series. We get really no explanation as to why our wonderful Wesley Christopher has these abilities. Our snarky leading lady is said to be "Just as Special" but how so? Is it her bravery? Her determination or is it literal like Wes? Furthermore I'm left affronted.. why the heck does she not go to his side? Why the heck does he put his life on the line time and time again and when he is injured she just is like eh, he'll come to me when he's ready. Seriously? Their relationship goes from zero to sixty, then back down to zero so fast. They take their relationship to the serious level with sex and I love yous but when he's hurt she doesn't even visit him in the hospital. Then they are going off to different colleges and she's sorta just like eh, whatever. Then Wesley somehow loses his abilities that we still don't know HOW or WHY he got them and that's just it ? Nope, I needed more than the explanations we got.
A Girl Like Me is like an intricate puzzle, each page another piece closer to solving the mystery that is Wes Stokes. Picking up right where we left off in A Boy Like You, I was as anxious as Joss was to figure out if the tight rope she and Wes were on would ultimately lead to happiness or extreme sadness. I couldn't stop reading this magical tale if I tried. Each chapter a chance to try and figure out if fate and one man's decision to keep bringing Joss and Wes together throughout their young lives was just simply something that was meant to be.
What a journey. And that's exactly what this duet is a journey of self-discovery, of second chances and of trust. What each and every one of these characters go through in order to simply live a life they can be proud of, is nothing short of miraculous at times. Wondering right along with them if Wes Stokes is this super hero with an unexplained drive to keep Joss safe and never getting hurt in the process. Was this just all coincidence? Did Shawn Stokes create a comic from a little boy's premonitions seen as dreams? Even though there may never be a true answer, the way the author masterfully weaves this tale with a love between Joss and Wes that is clearly destined in the stars, it almost doesn't matter.
I felt privileged to have become a part of this wonderful cast of characters lives. There is such a sense of family, whether blood-related or not and the reactions from Taryn, Kyle, TK, Levi, Joss's Dad, Grace and even Shawn, with respect to the adventure and mystery that is now Joss and Wes's life, continued to make me smile. I found that each of Joss's emotions were spot on for a 17 year old. She could be compulsive to a fault, yet found it in her to forgive no matter what. There is wonderful underlying humor that keeps this crew steady and I chuckled right along with them. The loyalty to each other is just beautiful with Kyle as Joss's true best friend, stealing the show more than once with his undying devotion to his girl.
Even with some unconventional warning due to a young Wes's dreams, I was on the edge of my seat for most of this second book, never knowing when that shoe would drop. Like nothing I've read before, A Girl Like Me is one outstanding book. The entire duet, even with its mysteries and almost outlandish coincidences, is down deep a love story. Between a boy and a girl, who may have had a past that drove them to their present but waste no time in making sure there will always be a future.
I can't recommend this duet highly enough. A welcome respite from the same old thing being published almost daily, Ginger Scott is a voice that I will continue to hear above the crowd. I am in love with this story, the characters and the way it tugged at my heartstrings.
5 HUGE stars all the way!
