Delilah is a drug trainer who can't stand to see a dog that is abused or not properly trained, she is obsessed with dogs. Jason has recently been traded to the New York Blades; he moves into a great apartment and brings his dog with him. His dog is having problems and when he meets Delilah in the park, he believes his problems are solved. While Delilah trains his dog Jason keeps messing up. When Jason and Delilah start dating and Delilah makes a fool of herself and Jason at a party they think it is over. Except now Jason is having problems on the ice and once again he needs Delilahs help. Delilah is an interesting woman, her life is all about dogs and she has zero idea of how to act around humans. Jason is full of himself and while he does try to do the right thing sometimes, he doesn't follow through and ends up messing up more. They are an interesting couple, they have tons of chemistry and there relationship has some pretty comedic moments. They also have some serious cringe worthy, I can't believe he/she did that moments. I liked the characters and loved seeing both of them change through out the story. I had a few problems with some of the scenes in the book but beyond that it was a nice, funny read.

Chasing Stanley New York Blades Deirdre Martin 9780425214473 Books Reviews

A shy dog walker, a Newfie with no manners, twin hockey-playing brothers (on opposing teams), and a Mother-from-Hell those are just a few of the vivid characters in Deirdre Martin's wonderful romance CHASING STANLEY. Stanley's the lovable Newfoundland and also the ultimate trophy in professional ice hockey which gives you an idea of Ms. Martin's delightful sense of humor. Her dialogue sparkles and keeps you laughing. Her characters leap off the page and refuse to let you put this book down until you've read to the emotionally satisfying grand finale. For those of us who've devoured all of Ms. Martin's books, there's the surprise bonus of getting to see our favorite characters from previous stories again. I admit it I had tears in my eyes as I closed the book--both from the terrific conclusion and because I really hated for it to end.
The book was ok. It certainly wasn't one of my favorites. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and couldn't really picture them together.
Ok. I have loved all of Deidre Martin's books. This one however was terrible.
The heroine is whiny and weak, in my opinion.
Jason is just an inconsiderate ass, and he never redeems himself in my eyes.
The best character in this book is Stanley, and sadly, Eric.
If these people were real, they should be focusing on personal growth.
The series is great, this book was the dud out of all of them in my opinion.
Dogwalker (Delilah) meets dogowner(Jason). A little romance and a cute Newfoundlan dog (Stanley) that matches its cover.
My truth is that I think Stanley was the only thing keeping this couple "in love". It was unfortunate but I don't think they even belonged together. Hero and heroin were sincere but not soul mates.

It was a light, fun read yet I wouldn't recommend it.
I have read a couple of this author's hockey romance books, and this is a favorite! First, the hero, Jason, has this humongous dog, but he has no idea how to manage the dog in the city. Stanley, the dog, is cute and funny. Since I have four dogs, the dog got me first. But the main characters are also great- a no-nonsense, practical woman and a sweet but masculine hockey player. This book had more depth than many romance novels I've read, and I really liked the characters. They were well-developed, believable, and interesting.
Martin never fails to deliver a finely crafted lyrical novel. This time, she rifts off the Jewish community in a humorous way; you can almost taste the matzo ball soup that the protagonist might have been raised eating, if her mother wasn't worried about her getting too fat to attract a nice doctor. She doesn't tackle tough issues, but delivers a solid, engaging romance. Another good edition to the series.
I almost skipped this one in the series but decided to read it for myself and I'm so glad I did. Delilah has many obstacles to overcome, which is so true to life and learning to handle them isn't an easy thing to do. The author did an incredible job of showing where it came from and didn't write it as an easy thing to fix. Jason loves her but he also sees that there are different and he knows that he cannot 'fix' her issues and that in order for that to happen, Delilah has to work on them herself. In the end their love does overcome it all, yet you're left with the feeling that the future isn't paved in gold nor going to be all up hill, but with them both loving each other and willing to work at it they will prevail.
